Stockwoods LLP is honoured to be recognized by the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association with its 2018 Liberty Award for Excellence in Legal Advocacy. Stockwoods has represented the BCCLA pro bono in a variety of matters over the last several years, in criminal, constitutional and other public interest matters before the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. The award will be presented at the 2018 Liberty Awards Gala in Vancouver, B.C., for which tickets are available here.
The BCCLA said in its release announcing the award recipients:
Stockwoods is one of Canada’s most highly regarded and experienced boutique litigation firms. All Canadians have benefited from their firm’s extensive pro-bono contributions to public interest litigation. In just the last year alone, Stockwoods has helped advance Canadian democratic (Frank & Duong v. Canada), privacy (R. v. Jones), and internet rights (Google Inc. v. Equustek Solutions). Stockwoods exemplifies what it means to be engaged public interest lawyers, and we are happy to honour their efforts with the Excellence in Legal Advocacy Award.
