Paul Le Vay

Practice Areas

Paul practices in the areas of securities litigation, corporate/commercial litigation, professional negligence, employment law and professional regulation and discipline. He is bilingual and conducts litigation and administrative matters in both English and French. He has been with Stockwoods for over 20 years, joining us in 1990 after practicing at a large Toronto firm. Paul is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.  He is named in the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada in the categories of Corporate Commercial Litigation and Securities Litigation.

In addition to his distinguished career at Stockwoods, Paul is a member and past director of The Advocates’ Society and a member and past President of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario.  He is also a contributing editor of Corporate Litigation (a Federated Press publication) and the Toronto Law Journal. He is a member of the Toronto Lawyers Association and the Canadian Bar Association.

Paul speaks and writes on the subjects of civil litigation, securities litigation, professional discipline proceedings, and advocacy.

He earned his LL.B. in 1985 from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Diplôme d’études approfondies in 1988 from Université Robert Schuman, Strasbourg, France.

He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1988.

Representative Work

Recent work has included representing clients in Ontario Securities Commission investigations and proceedings, defending officers, directors and others in securities class, defending lawyers and other professionals in malpractice actions, acting for investment dealers in various civil actions and providing general advice on and litigating a wide variety of commercial matters
