Practice Areas

Olivia joined Stockwoods as an associate in 2022 following her call to the bar. She completed her articles as a clerk at the Ontario Divisional Court and Superior Court of Justice, where she assisted judges on a variety of civil, criminal, and administrative law matters. Prior to her clerkship, Olivia summered at a top Toronto litigation boutique.

Olivia obtained her J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. While at law school, she mooted in the Gale Cup Moot and the University of Toronto’s Grand Moot. Olivia also served as co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Law & Equality and assisted clients with employment matters and academic appeals as a caseworker with Downtown Legal Services.

Prior to law school, Olivia obtained a B.A. (Hons.) in Political Studies from Queen’s University.

Representative Work

The Neighbourhood Group et al. v. His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario, 2025 ONSC 1934: Counsel for the applicants in a constitutional challenge to legislation mandating the closure of certain supervised consumption sites in Ontario, successfully obtaining an interlocutory injunction restraining the legislation from coming into effect.

Represented an individual charged with sexual assault, securing an acquittal following a trial.

Fowlie v. Spinney, 2024 ONSC 5080, 2025 ONSC 2123: Counsel for the moving party, David Spinney, in a successful motion to dismiss the plaintiff’s defamation action as a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation under s. 137.1 of the Courts of Justice Act.

D’Arthenay v. Ontario Provincial Police, 2024 ONSC 4773 (Div. Ct.): Counsel for the applicant in a successful application to set aside the decision of the Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner deeming the police misconduct at issue in the applicant’s complaint to be “not of a serious nature” and purporting to resolve the complaint informally.

Represented a joint venture partner in a dispute for control of the joint venture corporation.

Gayle v. Cambridge Mercantile Corp., 2024 ONSC 1792: Counsel for the moving parties, the plaintiff’s former lawyers, in a successful motion for summary judgment dismissing the plaintiff’s action for solicitor’s negligence.

R. v. Economopoulos, 2023 ONCA 441: Counsel for the appellant in an appeal from conviction for drug offences.

Blair Engaged – Residents’ Association Inc. v. Corporation of the City of Cambridge, 2023 ONSC 1964 (Div. Ct.): Counsel for the respondent, the Corporation of the City of Cambridge, in an application for judicial review concerning the City Council’s decision to grant site plan approval under the Planning Act for a development.

Ontario (Attorney General) v. Working Families Coalition (Canada) Inc., 2025 SCC 5: Counsel for the intervener, the Chief Electoral Officer of Ontario.

York Region District School Board v. Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, 2024 SCC 22: Counsel for the intervener, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
