Court of Appeal dismisses defamation action against CBC’s Dragon’s Den

Stockwoods lawyer Andrea Gonsalves successfully argued before the Ontario Court of Appeal that a lawsuit brought by a board game designer and lawyer against CBC’s Dragon’s Den  should be dismissed without the need for trial, due to the clear release signed which permitted CBC to edit footage of the program as it saw fit.  In a unanimous decision, the Court of Appeal rejected the claim that it was improper for Dragon’s Den to have edited the footage to make the plaintiff’s idea appear to be a “complete flop”.  To read coverage of the case in the Globe and Mail, click here.
