On July 31, at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) conference in Calgary, AB, Stockwoods Partner Nader Hasan discussed the evolving constitutional right to privacy in the Digital Age. His presentation examined core principles to have emerged in this area over the past decade, and discussed proposed approaches to dealing with new cutting-edge topics, including the extra-territorial reach of production orders; whether and when Part VI authorizations are required to record electronic communications; and challenges posed by the “Internet of Things” and Artificial Intelligence.
