As part of the annual LGBT Pride Week Celebration, the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Caucus (SOGIC) of the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada, co-hosted a panel discussion and reception at Osgoode Hall in Toronto on June 21, 2012. A distinguished panel of “LGBT Legal All-Stars”, who have advanced the cause of equality for the LGBT community, celebrated the 30-year anniversary of the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms and what it has meant for LGBT legal advocacy. Paul, who recently joined SOGIC’s Executive Committee, engaged the panel members in a discussion of issues with respect to promoting diversity in the judiciary in Ontario and across Canada and the potential impact thereof on litigation involving the LGBT community.
