Stockwoods completes successful prosecution for the Law Society of Ontario

Stockwoods partner Paul Le Vay and Law Society Discipline Counsel Joshua Elcombe have successfully prosecuted a Lawyer licensee on behalf of the Law Society of Ontario. The Law Society Tribunal found that the Lawyer had failed to serve a client, had intentionally submitted misleading invoices to Legal Aid Ontario and had accepted a private retainer from a client after a legal aid certificate had been issued, contrary to the Legal Aid Services Act. The Tribunal has revoked the Lawyer’s license to practice. The hearing was conducted in French, while the penalty phase was conducted in English.
