Stockwoods lawyers successfully intervene at the Supreme Court of Canada in police detention case

On May 31, 2019, the Supreme Court of Canada released its judgment in R v Le, 2019 SCC 34. The case is a landmark judgment for analyzing the role of race in the police detention context. Stockwoods lawyers Gerald Chan and Lindsay Board represented the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic on a joint intervention (together with Avvy Go). At para. 108 of the judgment, the majority recited and adopted Gerald’s submissions in oral argument.
