Stockwoods lawyers Christopher Wirth and Fredrick Schumann appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada on March 21, 2013 to represent the appellant in McLean v. Executive Director of the British Columbia Securities Commission (SCC case file number 34593). The appeal asks whether the limitation periods in securities acts run from the time of the underlying market conduct even when the regulator is relying on a finding, conviction, order, or agreement in another jurisdiction, or whether any finding, conviction, order, or agreement restarts the limitation clock. The Ontario Securities Commission and the Financial Advisors Association of Canada (“Advocis”) intervened in the appeal. To watch Chris argue this appeal, click here.
