Stockwoods lawyers will be appearing in three separate cases this week in the Supreme Court of Canada.
On November 3, Brian Gover, Justin Safayeni and Carlo Di Carlo will represent the Criminal Lawyers’ Association in Attorney General of Canada v. Chambres des notaires du Québec, dealing with the constitutionality of certain provisions of the Income Tax Act concerning solicitor-client privilege.
On November 4, Nader Hasan and Justin Safayeni will represent the B.C. Civil Liberties Association in R. v. Safarzadeh-Markhali, dealing with the constitutionality of a provision of the Criminal Code that limits enhanced credit for pre-trial custody. (Tiffany O’Hearn Davies is also counsel in this matter.)
On November 6, Gerald Chan and Nader Hasan will represent the B.C. Civil Liberties Association in World Bank Group v. Wallace, dealing with the immunity of the World Bank Group from a production order in a prosecution under the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act. (Tiffany O’Hearn Davies is also counsel in this matter.)
