Aaron Dantowitz to judge Corporate/Securities Law Moot

Stockwoods partner Aaron Dantowitz will be a judge at the 2015 Corporate/Securities Law Moot Court Competition, to be held in Toronto on March 6-7, 2015.  The Corporate/Securities Law Moot focuses on current issues in Canadian business law.  This year’s problem involves a dissident shareholder and its efforts to replace a corporation’s board of directors.  Among the legal issues raised by the problem are the validity of a by-law adopted by the corporation, requiring advance notice of certain details regarding a shareholder’s nominees to the board; whether the postponement of the corporation’s annual and special meeting was valid; and whether the shareholder engaged in unlawful proxy solicitation.
