Court of Appeal Upholds Fraud Judgment

The Ontario Court of Appeal has released Man Financial Canada Co. v. Keuroughlian, upholding the trial decision in favour of Stockwoods’ client Man Financial. In its reasons, the Court accepted the submission that the trial judge’s reasons were fully adequate to explain his decision that the defendant had defrauded his employer (then Refco Canada Inc.) through a series of concealed foreign exchange transactions. Stockwoods lawyers Paul Le Vay and Johanna Braden represented Man Financial at trial before Mr. Justice Lissaman, and on the appeal.
