At the Ontario Bar Association’s annual conference on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Stockwoods counsel Nader R. Hasan will be part of a panel discussing sexual assault trials and the Charter. The panel will discuss what recent high-profile criminal trials have revealed about the Charter rights of both the accused and the complainants in sexual assault cases; what, if any, impact the heated public debate around this issue will have on such cases; and how we can support complainants’ equality rights while respecting the rights of the accused.
