As part of the celebration of Asian and South Asian Heritage Month, Paul Jonathan Saguil chaired a forum and reception co-hosted by the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, the Canadian Association of South Asian Lawyers, and the South Asian Bar Association on May 17, 2012. Following on recent reports and editorials in the Globe & Mail, this year’s forum, “Promoting Equality & Diversity on the Bench”, featured a discussion on the topic of judicial diversity in Canada. A panel of legal experts examined the demographics of the judiciary and how a wide range of perspectives that reflect the diversity of Canadian society can impact on legal decision-making. The panel discussion will be archived on the website of the Law Society of Upper Canada as part of its Equity Public Education Series.
