Stockwoods Obtains Summary Judgment in Commercial Contract Case

Stockwoods’ lawyers Paul Le Vay and Justin Safayeni have successfully obtained summary judgment dismissing an action against their client Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce brought by Siskinds LLP.  The plaintiff had sought a multi-million dollar payment upon the termination of a business agreement pursuant to which the plaintiff had performed collection work.  Justice D.M. Brown accepted the arguments put forward by Stockwoods that under the agreement, properly interpreted, no further amounts were owing and the action should be dismissed.  Read the decision here.
