Aaron Dantowitz to judge Corporate/Securities Law Moot

Stockwoods partner Aaron Dantowitz will be a judge at the 2016 Corporate/Securities Law Moot Court Competition, to be held in Toronto on March 4-5, 2016.  The Corporate/Securities Law Moot focuses on current issues in Canadian business law.  This year’s problem involves the termination of friendly merger negotiations between two corporations, leading to a hostile takeover bid and a corresponding injunction application.  Among the legal issues raised by the problem are whether confidential information was unlawfully used by the bidder, and whether the directors of the target corporation breached their fiduciary duties by authorizing a private placement of shares after the bid was announced.
